After leaving the Navy, John attended basic training with the NJ State Police, was a Passaic County Sheriff's Officer for 4 years and retired from the Wayne, NJ Police Department. John had a distinguished law enforcement career and was honored by the Wayne Elks as "Policeman of the Year" in 1986.
